18 Feb - A DATE WORTH REMEMBERING...

feb 18 two years ago, the lord spoke strongly to me ... on the very same thing Ellen wronte about.  i journaled my desire that the Lord would do something like that for AON too!

 

we really need the lord to come through today ... perhaps sy, this is why there is a call for fasting not merely in AON but also amongst the young people (your age group) ...

 

i woke up with a dream this morning - that p yang didnt help us the way that i wanted him to ... i was very discouraged and disappointed and then the Lord said to me - shirley, not by might nor power but by my holy spirit!

 

can it be true that AON will be saved within a day ... can it be true that Geylang will be saved within a day ...

 

i fear being disappointed ... i fear that the Lord wont come through ... yet for today, i want to position my heart to believe that He will do a miracle ...

 

last nite, my partners from my foot asked me what sort of miracle i am looking for re myfoot ... i said i dont know cos a miracle is a miracle - how do u determind what a miracle is .... i guess a miracle is when the Lord comes with His grace and awesome mercy and we will all  WILL STAND AMAZED and say, surely THIS MUST BE GOD!  Lord, this is what i am waiting for ... this is what i need for me to continue the second lap!

Several students at Duquesne University in Pittsburght, Pennsylvania...were sensing a spiritual void... and were seeking that fulfillment in their lives.

 

A counselor, Flo Dodge suggested they read the Acts of the Apostles.  That alone was enough to excite them especially Acts 2:17   And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh...

 

Is this what these catholic students were longing for?   

 

They began praying, then felt they were to go for a prayer weekend together to the Ark and the Dove retreat center.    Toward the end of their time,  there was a water line break, and they thought that each should go off alone...to thank the Lord for their time there...and to pray about the water situation.

 

SUDDENLY....each one was overwhelmed by the PRESENCE of the Lord

some were even slain in the Spirit....each did not know of the others experience...and it took awhile for them to come together...but each one was Spiritually changed.  

 

Of course, they also did not realize the impact of this weekend.   God truly honored their desire for more.....AND...the Holy Spirit was poured out on them but also on the Catholic Church.  

 

That event is known as The Duquesne Weekend  February 18, 1967   

 

The spiritual lives have also been changed of thousands around the world...

and they have a NEW hunger for the Word of God.

 

I have the privilege of knowing a few of those DU students.    But my blessing was to supply Bibles  for these many Catholics in the Pittsburgh area.  I could hardly keep up with the supply.  I was with the American Bible Society for 28 years...and the need never diminished.

 

That was 41 years ago...but my prayer every year is that God is not a respector of persons....He will pour out His spirit on any who are seeking more of Him... also on denominations...and even on Islam.....

 

Yes Lord we thank You for who you are...and that You are faithful to Your Word...and the rest of the prophecy in Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of theLord shall be saved.
