AON's first shabbat meal!

AON had our very first shabbat meal in aon today. it was something we really wanted and finally initiated by Molly (ywam south africa), who would have been in indonesia otherwise (apart from the volcano eruption...) and was here for such a God ordained time as this...thank you. I had a wonderful time of fellowship over dinner with our new friends and more than that, a family in yeshua, breaking bread and drinking the fruit of the vine with the revelation of Jesus Christ in all the processes. Not with any religious overtones (or undertones) but a true relationship with Jesus among brethren. Jesus was at our table tonight as we fellowshiped together in Him. And a time to remember the Jews in prayer for they too celebrate shabbat, but without the blessed revelation of Yeshua as their very own Messiah. In fact, it was only after the dinner that I had wondered if I had forgotton to pray for them, and I know that even as I did forget, that by His grace, i would remember to in future. After the meal, and the clean up... I so thank God for this team that helped (thank you!), we had a time of worship and prayer.

A few things came up and I wonder if they might be pillars of our future shabbat meals.

1. Contending to enter our rest in Him, for which Christ contended for us. (Heb 4:9)
2. That the weeks trials and temptations pale in light of our reflection as we enter shabbat that our good Lord has allowed everything to happen in order to prepare us as a Bride for His coming, and until we are prepared things will not be easy for us, but nevertheless, God has covenanted with His people a weekly day of rest, where we can enjoy Him and worry not of our trials. (This is a discipline as stopping from work and our interest is something we choose to do to honour God)
3. (Today at least) found myself reflecting on God's creative work at the cafe, and praying for the God's creative work in the following week. (what ccan I say, I could just sense Go'ds desire for His own creative power to be unleashed, and He was waiting for His people to see it that way.)
4. Jews in Singapore. Found myself praying particularly for the Jews in my home country. Wondered if the shabbat meal is like a source of provocation to the Jews, and is effective in a home country. Since, as and when it becomes a lifestyle as opposed to a reason for outreach, then it becomes a living testimony to a Jew whose lifestyle encourages observing the shabbat, but without the light of Yeshua for understanding. (Rom 10:15,19)
5. Holiness. Shirley pointed out that man finds rest from work a joy since the curse after the fall caused man to work with thistles in the way, while women enter into holiness since women fell from her covering after the curse of the fall.

Thanks shirley for preparing a wonderful meal and ywam team for your love and support, and SY, glad you were around. So we had a total of 9 people for our first shabbat, like the fruit of the spirit, Yeshua's family. Thank you Jesus for being the unseen one at out table tonight. Amen.

p/s religious undertones?

I guess if ovetones means being Jewish religiously, than an undertone would imply being entirely unrecognisable as Jewish, i.e. without trace of a Jewish root. Hope that helps.

grin! yea, i was wondering how everyone wld take to the green.. but yes, the lime-green is to match the walls and theme of aon. (must ask SL for the interpretation) ...er, btw, I wuz wondering abt the random God-chasers bit, there are some pretty wierd titles under sonic edge..

something to do wit d emerald rainbow aro d throne... rev 4:3 which in some interpretations refers to G-d's mercy. reflect on the sign of the rainbow given to noah gen9:13 and personify it eternally since the bow referred to here isn't on the earth but in heaven, around the throne of G-d.

holiness - on the holiness part, what i feel is that the Lord needs us to build aon on holiness and rest. men when they fell into sin find significance in work (a blessing now becoming a curse ?) while women became insubmissive and resent being 'covered' by men ... is holiness returning to what the Lord orginally planned for ... its proper order

as for lime green - not sure ... think its a throneroom colour although i think it does refer to leadership and the young - my interpretation!
